Hi, I’m Harrison Magun. I run the US Advertiser Tools and Technologies specialist organization at Microsoft in Seattle, Washington.
My team is charged with helping advertisers leverage buy-side tools, such as Atlas Advertiser, which comprise the cornerstone of Microsoft’s ad platform strategy.
I’ve been in digital marketing for about 14 years, and have held senior roles in general management, sales, operations, and analytics.
Before my current national sales role, I led two organizations: the US Search Media Operations team and the Global Media Analytics Services team. These two organizations of 140 people generated over $200MM/year through end-to-end account management and optimization for Microsoft’s largest advertisers.
My roots before MS were scrappier: I led a division of Razorfish, a subsidiary of aQuantive, as vice president of search.
Before that, even scrappier: founded eonMedia (sold to aQuantive with GO TOAST in 2003)
Before all that, I cut my teeth in digital marketing and management roles at American Express and About.com.
I earned a Masters degree in International Finance and Business from the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, and a Bachelors degree from Carleton College in Northfield, MN.
I’ve lived and worked in France and Hungary, and speak both languages fluently. I spend a lot my free time on bicycles and skis with my wife and two boys. (1/4/2011: Soon to be three).
This is my first blog. Please give feedback and leave comments.

Ah – the Hungarian angle. And so good to be able to hear your thoughts in writing. I think in your role at Microsoft, and your experience in the early days of online tools, your musings can be good ones. [and thanks for the mention]
